Fine New York City residents, ocupants of a station wagon, were killed and two other persons were injured at 2:50 A.M. Friday in a head-on collision on the New Jersey Turnpike, about 2 miles south of Swedesboro. Police said one vehicle was going south in the northbound lane.

Dead, all of the same apartment house at 5 W. 129th st., were:
Ulysses R. Parrott, 37. Annette Parrott, 35, his wife. Vivian Parrott, 4, their daughter. Mrs. Thelma Thursting, 45, sister of Mrs. Parrott. Harry Green, 58, superintendent of the apartment house who was driving the station wagon.

Dr. William G. Harris, Gloucester Co., coroner, said the victims all suffered fractured skulls and broken necks.

the injured, admitted to Underwood Hospital, Woodbury, were Cecilia Parrott, 8, another daughter of the dead couple, possible fractured left hip and cuts of the head, and the driver of the other car, Francis C. Dowd, 30, of E. 16th st., Wilmington, Del., chest injuries and fractured nose. His condition was serious.

State Trooper William Lau said Dowd, a salesman, traveling alone northbound, made a U turn and started south in the northbound lanes. He smashed head-on into the northbound station wagon, Lau said. The dead were pinned in the wreckage. Cecilia Parrott was thrown to the roadway.

The crash occurred just under the overpass that carries the Swedesboro-Monroeville rd. It was five miles south of where four persons were killed last Saturday in a two-car crasch on Rouet 45, near Mullica Hill.

Lau said both vehicles had entered the turnpike at the No. 1 interchange at Deepwater, He said the New Yorkers were going home after a visit in Virginia. The crash tied up northbound traffic for two hours.

Elsie Dee Parrott, was born to the late Eli and Bazzie Brown on May 11, 1928 in Hartsville, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Season's Hospice at Sinai Hospital after a brief illness.

In 1939, Elsie received Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Hartsville, South Carolina Elsie was educated in South Carolina Public School System. She completed her 12th grade education at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland.

Elsie began employment in the Baltimore City Public School system as a teacher's aide while attending Coppin State University Graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors of Science of degree in Elementary Education, thus began her teaching career, She taught for 16 years before retiring in 1990.

Elsie was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Lee Parrott on August 13, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1989 From his union three children were born.

Ms. Parrott as she was fondly known was a member of Fountain Baptist church for over 50 years. She served on various ministries. The willing Workers. The senior Missionary Ministry and the Zebulun Tribe. She participated and assisted with organizing various church act-ivies. She 2as a dedicated member and loved her church family dearly. You could always count on her to be supportive and encouraging

Elsie was a lifetime NAACP member in support of social justice. Elsie was also actively involved with Baltimore City Recreation on Parks Programs often organizing bus trips for seniors..

Elsie enjoyed traveling to various cities throughout the Country. Her favorite vacations was taking long cruises. Elsie greatest joy was family dinners and parties with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Parrott, Ms. P. Elsie was loved and cherished by all. She will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Sharon Floyd , Robin Taylor (Otis), Alan (Brenda) and stepdaughter, Barbara Yates: 13 grandchildren, two who preceded her in death, Brian and Ramon; 12 great grandchildren; devoted God daughters, Marian Rice and Hattie Terrell and a host of relatives and friends.
